‘It is with such pleasure that we welcome Eleanor Meynell back as our soloist, after almost 8 years.  We’re delighted that Eleanor chose us to perform this work with her, for her first time – and for us too! This was the last work that Bartok wrote before his death in 1945, leaving just 17 bars uncompleted, which were later orchestrated by his fiend, Tibor Serly.

To complete our programme, we have Holst’s charming ‘Somerset Rhapsody’ and Tchaikovsky’s 3^rd Symphony who, in 1875 had completed his first draft of this major work in just 3 weeks, before its final completion and first performance later that same year.’
