Programme

The Folkestone Baroque Ensemble will present ‘Vivaldiana,’ a programme of chamber music by that ever-popular ‘Red Priest’, Antonio Vivaldi.

Although he is known mostly for his violin concertos, Vivaldi’s output in other genres such as operas, church music and chamber music, was vast. Following their successful ‘Telemania’ recital in February, The Folkestone Baroque Ensemble (Lisete da Silva Bull, baroque flute & recorder, Walter Reiter, baroque violin, Henrik Persson, viola da gamba and Robin Walker, harpsichord) present a programme of Vivaldi’s chamber music, featuring violin and cello sonatas, trio sonatas including the wild and wonderful ‘Folia’ and music by Vivaldi’s contemporary in Venice, Marcello, arranged for harpsichord by one of Vivaldi’s most loyal fans, J.S. Bach.
