Terry Smith is an artist from London, now based in Folkestone. Developing an impressive practice over forty years, Smith has been the recipient of acclaimed awards and fellowships – such as the Henry Moore Fellowship at the Byam Shaw School of Art, and receiving The Paul Hamlyn Artist Award in 2008.

Sacconi Quartet are the UK’s longest-standing professional string quartet in its original line-up. They have performed internationally for 25 years and are artistic directors of the Sacconi Chamber Music Festival in Folkestone held every May and entering its 20th season next year.

Ian Dearden is a British sound designer who co-founded Sound Intermedia with David Sheppard in 1996, creating sophisticated sound designs for opera, concert, and live performance venues around the world. His work spans major productions including Birtwistle’s The Mask of Orpheus at English National Opera and Monteverdi’s Orfeo for Royal Opera House at the Roundhouse.

LOST is a new performance work by Terry Smith, created with the Sacconi Quartet, composer/ sound designer Ian Dearden and performers Zoë Glen, Katrina Binks and Henry Uniacke.

Built around Bach’s The Art of Fugue, LOST brings four musicians and three performers into a shared system of repetition, duration and change.

Music and movement are constructed from short sequences governed by a simple set of instructions. These sequences loop, overlap and move in and out of sync, with changes in speed, volume, intensity and silence.

As the sequences repeat, things begin to shift and disappear.

Tickets range from £5 to £20 and must be booked online in advance as there is a limit to capacity.
