Dominic Muldowney is a composer of extraordinary versatility. He has created award-winning music for the stage, screen and concert hall. He was Music Director of the National Theatre from 1981 to 1997.Central to his orchestral work is an important sequence of concerti which combine complex polyrhythmic experimentation with a fascination with the sounds and gestures of jazz and other musical vernaculars.His film and TV music includes The Ploughman’s Lunch, 1984 (with Richard Burton and John Hurt) and Sharpe.
Junyan Chen’s recent concerto engagements include the Ravel G major with the Brighton Philharmonic and Rachmaninov 4 with Edward Gardner and the RAM Symphony Orchestra. She recently worked closely with Hans Abrahamsen for a performance of his piano concerto with conductor Franck Ollu and the Manson Ensemble.
Dominic will be joined by Junyan Chen, who will give the first performance of a new work for piano, 6 Brecht Portraits.
