A dynamic young cellist who plays with “full-blooded commitment” and “delicious dancing grace”, Leo Popplewell studied at Clare College, Cambridge, and later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Hehas performed in many of the world’s leading concert halls. In 2017 Leo formed the Mithras Piano Trio, which has been selected as BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists for the 2021-23 seasons. Leo is joined in this recital by the pianist Michael Pandya.
Message from Bayle Music:
We are in so many ways facing difficult times and our desire to present outstanding concerts of the highest quality is being compromised by some of these present day challenges.
Following our last concert given by the wonderful Connaught Brass, (who’s playing was magnificent despite the challenges!) we have made the decision to postpone the next three concerts, recommencing the series in March 2023.
Keeping a building as large as St Mary and St Eanswythe’s warm is an almost impossible task and whilst last Saturday’s audience managed to keep mostly comfortable, the performers, though they did not complain, suffered the effect of the cold. It is paramount that we are able to offer performers and audience alike an appropriate environment for music performances.
Thus please note that the Bayle Music recitals on 17 December 2022, 21 January and 26 February 2023 have been postponed to later dates of which you will be informed as soon as possible.
