Young Strings Ensemble 2021

Sounds Folkestone, in collaboration with the award-winning Sacconi Quartet and composer John Woolrich, is excited to announce the establishment of a Sounds Folkestone Young Strings ensemble, featuring young string players of all abilities from the local area.

This project has been made possible through the Sacconi Quartet’s Folkestone Residency project that enables the quartet to develop a range of outreach projects in the local community. Renowned British Composer John Woolrich, himself a resident of Folkestone, has composed a bespoke set of string ensemble pieces specifically for young string players of all abilities.

In its inaugural season, Sounds Folkestone Young Strings will comprise two coaching days with members of the Sacconi Quartet, and local violin teachers, Florian Peycelon and Ellen O’Dell, who have been instrumental in recruiting children to this project.
