Sacconi Chamber Music Festival

Artistic Directors: Sacconi Quartet – Ben Hancox, Hannah Dawson (violins), Robin Ashwell (viola), Cara Berridge (cello)

 

The Sacconi Festival is now firmly established among the UK’s major chamber music festivals and attracts audiences from far and near for its vibrant atmosphere and dynamic programming.

Previous guest artists include Tom Poster (piano), Matthew Rose (Bass-baritone), Pekka Kuusisto (violin), Simon Rowland-Jones (viola), Alasdair Beatson (piano), Chi-chi Nwanoku (double bass), Charles Owen (piano), Mark Padmore (tenor), Roger Chase (viola), Wihan Quartet, London Bridge Trio, Simon Crawford-Phillips (piano), Leon Bosch (double bass), Gwilym Simcock (piano), Acoustic Triangle,  Lavinia Meijer (harp), Abel Selaocoe (cello) and Guy Johnston (cello).

The Sacconi Quartet maintain a close relationship with the Royal College of Music where they first formed the Quartet in 2001. Most years the Quartet hand-pick a chamber orchestra of students from the College to perform with them on the Saturday night concert.

2020 was the first year in twelve that the Festival had to be cancelled due to Covid-19, however thanks to the generous actions of the Quartet’s dear friend Pete Fozard, they had many years of video footage of the Festival to choose from and were able to curate an online version of the Festival over the same weekend in May.
